The government plans to resume the Prime Minister's youth laptop scheme this year, under which laptops will be distributed to talented college students.
This was announced by the Prime Minister's Special Assistant to Youth Affairs, Shazafati Makawaja, who is speaking to Radio Pakistan on Friday on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day.
She said laptops are a tool that gives young people access to the latest skills, online work and business.
She said World Youth Day is important because Pakistan is a country where 68% of the population is young.
Shaza Fatima emphasized the enrichment of young people with modern professional and technical skills, as modern technological advances have advanced all areas, including agriculture, textiles and manufacturing. She said the PML N government would launch the Prime Minister's youth system in 2013 and award 100,000 scholarships annually. She said the government will soon announce this year's scholarship.
According to SAPM, loan schemes for young entrepreneurs have also been revived under the Prime Minister's youth scheme, which makes it easy to buy loans up to Rs. 7.5 million in installments.
She said special awareness programs and business planning training are being implemented to encourage young people to develop entrepreneurship and become employers rather than job seekers.
